PIECE 005 · TYPE
VERNIER
A monospace display face with one stroke weight, drawn from arithmetic. Every glyph is a skeleton of straight runs and arcs, buffered to a 96 unit stroke and unioned into a single outline. No tablet, no font editor, no interpolation: coordinates in a Python file and a buffer operation.

SET IN VERNIER
A VERNIER IS THE SMALL SLIDING SCALE THAT READS BETWEEN THE MARKS OF THE BIG ONE. IT DOES NOT MEASURE MORE, IT MEASURES FINER, AND IT ONLY WORKS IF BOTH SCALES ARE CUT BY THE SAME HAND.
THIS FACE HAS NO KERNING BECAUSE IT HAS NOTHING TO KERN. EVERY GLYPH ADVANCES 620 UNITS, SO A COLUMN OF TEXT IS A COLUMN OF TEXT.
LOWERCASE IS MAPPED TO CAPITALS ON PURPOSE. THE FACE REFUSES THE CASE SHIFT RATHER THAN FAKING ONE.
